Could Be Great

This app is by far the best that there is for Mac. With that being said, there are a few limitations that make me hate this app. 1) If you close the app or restart your Mac, you lose your favorites. That is a major deal breaker on its own. I have writen the owner with this complaint with no reply or fix. 2) Not being able to pinch zoom within the app is pretty weird, and annoying. 3) Not being able to set a homepage other than the Craigshopper app page is also a major downfall. I spend a lot of time switching to Safari so that I can A) zoom B) Do a Google search the way i want too. With all of the complaints comes some good. Like I said in the beginning, this is by far the best app for Mac. It allows multiple city/state searches at once, and has the potential to have a great UI. I just hope the creater wil fix these easy to fix problems so that I can give his app the 5 stars that it deserves.

Mr

Not the best but for Mac it far exceeds

Love it!

The best app I have found! Just wish they would make a mobile one. That would be AWESOME!! As the other mobile apps kinda stink!

Excellent

Great tools, lots of customizability, easy to learn...

Not recommended… iOS apps are better.

PRO Though not apparent, this app supports Craigslist’s complex searches. Make sure you read the “Home” page info when the app starts-up or click the “Home” icon at the very top of the item viewer on the right pane. You DO NOT have to create multiple searches. For example: “Blue Hat” | “Red Hat" will return in the one search both “Blue Hat” and “Red Hat" listings. I had created several searches before I even noticed the “Tips & Tricks” on the opening main page. I was in too much a rush to setup my first search. Don’t make that mistake or you are missing the most powerful feature of this app. CON - No way to mark viewed listings. Flag shows new listings since previous “sync” (update), flag remains even if item is viewed. - Developer does not respond to his own support system. - Unstable, frequent crashes. - Very little documentation. (ie: “Fast” sync. What does that mean? Every 5 min. Every hour? Every day?) - Returned results are different than the exact same search on Craigslist website. For example, one search returned 396 returns in CraigShopper while the exact same serch terms on Craigslist website returned 434. I have not waded thru the returns to see what the differences are. BOTTOM LINE Don’t spend the money on this app, Get one of the iPhone/iPad apps instead.

Brest ive ever used for the mac!

I absolutely love this app. I could not recomend it enough. If you are an avid craigslist shopper its is very good at what it does. It is not perfect but very close and once you spend a little time with it you can get it to do most anything you want. If you are on the fence, not sure if its worth the $6.00, I’m here to tell you it is and you wont be disappointed.

No support now to work with changes Craigs List have made

This WAS an excellent program up to about a month ago when Craig’s List modified their directory structures. Now there are constant false listing reported from other cities and it is a pain to see which ones are actually in your area now. I have emailed the author without any response. I would only recommend this program to anyone if it gets updated after today.

Used to work great, recently stopped working

Used to be one of my favorite apps, but suddenly stopped working recently. Returns duplicate results, results do not like to the actual post, dates are wrong.

has stopped working correctly

This app has been really good in the past but recently it has stopped functioning correctly. I keep hoping for an update but nothing has come in the last month or so. Where is the developer?

Loads incorrect listings and no dates.

Please Fix! It has been a few weeks since i could use the app. All listings say “empty date” and the new posting will lead to the wrong page. I have emailed developer with no response

use to be a great app, not so much anymore

This use to be a great app but I haven’t been able to use it on over a month. I was getting blocked from craigslist if I left the app open to long. Hopefully this all gets fixed soon. I found a lot of great deals because of this app. I will update my review if it gets fixed.

This App is a POS

The App was great right up until the point that I paid for the full license. Whatever you do, do not upgrade. I now get the “Empty Date” issue where every item every listed for a search even though 90% of the items return a invalid results, the message is like the item has already been sold and the user takes the ad off, you get hundreds of those so now that the app is useless.

I Love It

This is one of those apps that I could not function without. Love the fact that one can search several different sites at one time. The only problem I have with it is that when you close the app you lose all your “favorites”. Other than that… Perfect.

Used to love it … Now no longer works … Craigslist blocks me now

Loved this app for months. A few weeks ago it no longer works. Craigslist seems to block me from my iMAC. Left 2 emails to vender and craigslist and no response. Stay away till it gets fixed ...

Good app but dates are no longer being generated properly

I’ve used this app for over two years. It’s a very convenient way to search Craigs List. However, starting a week or so ago, Craig Shopper is no longer properly displaying the dates of posts. Instead of dates, it shows the word “EmptyDate.” I’ve contacted the developer a few times and I have yet to hear back. So I don’t know if the app is still being actively developed. As a result, I’m only giving it three stars. I will increase my rating if I ever hear back from the developer and if he I fixes the problem with dates. Slight update: I posted the above paragraph in August. I still haven’t heard back from the developer so it seems like the program is no longer being supported and that bugs are no longer being fixed.

Dosnt work and no support

I bought the app and it dosnt work. Every search I do I get the message nothing found. Iv emailed support and get no responce.

Constant Errors, No longer Supported..

I loved this app at first, but now get constant “craigs list has blocked this ip address” errors, even though I never post ads. Its an easy fix, just turn your modem on and off, but its very annoying doing that a few times a day. I emailed the developer and never heard back. This program is dead.

4 stars

the app is a bit of a clunker and does crash. also its concauked from various html apps. feels cobbled. does a better job than search tempest

From a pretty good start right of a cliff, (then another, then another….)

I used CraigShopper a lot. Hey, it was on friggin’ “Open at Login”. I use a lot of standard search syntax filters modfiers (you know, like ‘car +Ford +red’). I figured out pretty fast the returned results were erratic, sometimes actually hiding the very item I was looking for and showing others that didn’t match the search. For example, I might search for KitchenAid microwave and get a list showing some units that were microwave/convection oven combos. So cut the list down and look at just those I’d search ‘KitchedAid microwave +convection” and get a return of ’no items found’. I was like, ‘wait, you just showed me three of these!’ and if I took off the ‘+convection’ from the search string, they came right back. I discovered that over a year ago, but I was curious so I did email support and asked for some guidance. Support replied that … well ... IF they ever me maybe, I guess I could tell you then…. Maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned problems with not getting all my search results. Soon after, I started getting plenty. I fact I started to get a return for the same ad 5 or 6 times (one for each instance of the nearby regions I searched (we have a lot of them in the Bay Area). And that wouldn’t be so bad really, but … there was only ONE real returned listing out of the 5 or 6 that listed. You had to click on each one of them to find the ‘prize’ (the one that actually contained any text or images”. I loved being able to shop and mark off ‘favorites’ for what I liked. I would have liked it even more if there was a way to track which ones you replied to and keep track of the communications for that item. But I learned fast that even the ‘Favorites’ wasn’t too useful, becaue they were lost every time I quit. They were also lost when I crashed, which started to to be more often … and then REALLY often .. at least once per session. Along with crashes, the graphics started getting buggy. It would get into a state where you couldn’t return to the main list of searches you created because the ‘drawer’ was stuck where you couldn’t get ahold if it to pull it back. The only way around this was to quit (and there went your favorites for the day again). I contacted support about the crashes and, well, they’re probably still busy my reply ready for the question I had about search syntax a year or so back. I’m sure they’ll answer me when they can, in another year or two. Anyway, the problems don’t really matter so much anymore because, everytime I try to use the app now, it does something Craigslist considers insulting or rude or something and the serve automatically bans me access to all of Craigslist. I have to email some support address there and, usually a few days later, I am allowed to shop again. Bottom line, I miss it now and haven’t found any good OS X alternative but nonethless … if you see an software update come out that says these problems are fixed, buy it by all means, you’ll probably really like it. I haven’t seen an update in ages, though. Maybe you’d just like to email support and ask them? There may still be a Craigslist by the time the support reply reaches you...

ABANDONWARE

This was once a nice app — when it worked. However, it was plagued by several problems that have been around for many years with no fix from the developer, who is totally unresponsive to support requests. The version here in the App Store is 3 updates behind what’s on the developer’s own site. But even version 2.0.17 (released 12/29/2013) is now severely broken, after changes Craigslist made which the developer never responded to. Too bad, really. This could have been an excellent app with a little love. I will most certainly update this review should the problems ever be fixed, but it seems the developer has moved on to other things (freightmonster.com).
